WEEK PROGRAMME ROUTE Limburg Zen – Sational
Bike-Boat-Holiday across the beautiful River Maas and the Bike Intersections Network Limburg and Route Ravel
1st day: You get a warm welcome on board. Lovely Cruise to Liège-Angleur.
Distance cruise: 27 km.
You arrive
in Maastricht with your own transportation. Embarking at 1.00 o’clock p.m. in
the marina Pietersplas. The marina has video surveillance and reserved parking
places. On board we start with a warm welcome, a welcome drink and a Briefing
about the tour. The bicycle edition takes place at apt. 3.00 o’clock p.m. The
bikes are adjusted for every individual.
After this we sail with the MIRO through the locks of Lanaye (18 metres fall) towards Liège. The locks of Lanaye are the highest locks in the River Meuse and it is an impressive event. We continue our tour through the locks of Visé through the beautiful valley of Visé to Monsin. We moor in Liège Angleur, right in the centre of the historical Old Town. We enjoy a fine Dinner here in Liège and in the evening there is an opportunity to make a city tour with the skipper. He takes you to the famous Café Chantant Le Jardin des Ollivette*, where the atmosphere is determined by the Liègois folkmusic and French Chansons.
2nd day: Angleur – Esneux. Appr. 35 km.
Riding through the valley of the Ourte is biking and enjoying with all your senses!
Early in the morning we enjoy a pleasant Skippers breakfast. After breakfast there is sufficient opportunity to visit the famous Sunday market La Batte, de longest market in Belgium. After this the MIRO sails to Angleur.
Here the bikes are being disembarked and after having discussed the tour, we start our bike tour through the beautiful valley of the Ourte to the wonderful town of Tillf and the delightful town of Esneux. The Skipper helps you on the right track, so you don’t have to search where to go. We make a beautiful rural bike tour along the splendid river Ourte. When we come back in Angleur, we enjoy a romantic Afternoon sailing trip with the Mirò to Kanne. Here we have dinner and we spend the night at the city quay. Here you are free to spend the rest of the evening as you please. You have also the opportunity to visit the marl caves with the skipper.
3rd day: Bike tour Kanne – Rekum. Appr. 39 km.

Our bike
tour leads us through an enchanted world of legendary castles, miraculous
legends and a mysterious past. Centuries-old stories occur here in a fairy-tale
setting of sweet blossoms of fruits, ready to be picked, of green woods and
endless panoramic views. The Haspengouw has you in its spell and will never set
you free again. We visit the splendid medieval castle of Alden Biezen, the pearl
of Limburg.
Here we reach the junction of the Albertcanal. And the Canal of Neerharen . We go on board again and we make a beautiful sailing tour to the small Border town Rekem. We moor beneath the castle. Here we enjoy dinner and we spend the night. In the evening it is a real treat to stroll in the small streets of this small picturesque town.
4th day: From Rekem to Maasmechelen. Distance appr. 39 km

The Limburg National Park Hoge Kempen surprises you with beautiful bike routes between large woods, impressive land dunes, mysterious pools and …… Desert!! There are some very good bike cafés alongthe route, and don’t you want to go too far to-day? No problem. You simply shorten the route andenjoy a shopping tour in the fashionable Maasmechelen Village Outletcenter. Our guests receive a special V.I.P.-invitation with special offers and extra discounts. Here we have dinner and we spend the night in the wonderful country side on the wooded Canalbanks. Do you want to go to the movies tonight?

welcome you.

5th day: Maasmechelen – Maaseik – Thorn. Distance appr. 35 km.
Boundless enjoyment in Limburg!
During breakfast the MIRO sails through small picturesque canals and a beautiful scenery to the little village of Berg en Born. On the way we discuss the tour and at appr. 11 o’clock the bikes are taken from the boat. Meanwhile the skipper has taken your bike from the boat and he has checked the tension of your tires. Here we start out bike tour across the border via the Meuse route along the beautiful old River and the splendid Limburg lakes to the wonderful town(?) of Maaseik.
Don’t forget to taste the excellent gastronomy and the famous Belgian chocolate! The bike tour continuesto the famous small white town of Thorn. Here you meet the Mirò again, your sailing hotel that has moored at the landing outisde the city walls. Do you want to fish or swim??? Here the beach is white as snow and the swimming water is crystal-clear! We enjoy dinner and spend the night in Thorn. In the evening making a walk through this wonderful little town is a real treat and the view is breathtaking.
6th day: Thorn – Maastricht. Distance appr. 40 km.

During a delicious early breakfast we sail towards the sun across the beautiful Limburg lakes to the industrious Sailors town of Maasbracht. Here we pass the impressive lock-complex at the beginning of the Juliana canal to Born, where our bike tour starts. The skipper has already checked your bike en taken them from the boat. Through the rural village of Stein we ride along beautiful apple orchards to the little village of Elslo with its magnificent Castle. Here you can enjoy a delicious lunch of have a cup of coffee. We continue our tour through a splendid wooded Limburg scenery to the historical city of Maastricht.
In the evening we enjoy a Captains Dinner or the Harbour Taxi takes us to the old centre of Maastricht.
On Thursday all shops and museums are open until 21.00 o’clock p.m. Then Maastricht shows you itsunequalled delightful Burgundian side. When we return on the Miró we enjoy a drink on deck, looking back on a wonderful day.
7th day: Return trip.
After a delicious breakfast we disembark at 10 o’clock and we start the individual return trip.
Booking an
extra night before or after the trip is only possible on a limited scale. Please
contact your travel agency or ask the tour guide on board. Dinner is always in
reputable local restaurants or on board of the Miró. This is optional. It is
also possible to make a reservation on board.
